The reason this was drummed out of the USA is well known. ANY good CD/DVD creation software can backup your unprotected Video DVD so that's a non-discussion item.
However as you well know why such is not sold in the USA, this explains far too much for me to write here.
Let me part with this. Many of these apps are riddled with trojans or worse. I'd approach all with deep suspect.

I used to be able to create backups for free. As a new mac user that option seems to be gone.
When I do searches on the subject I find very old solutions. Can someone recommend software to copy my personally owned copy protected DVD's?
