Best Scanner for household records, some photos (b/w&color)

Feb 28, 2005 9:12AM PST

Greetings,

I have been struggling to find a scanner that will allow me to scan my banking records (including checks), school assignments, portfolio items, household receipts, and preserve some b/w and color photos. I plan on creating searchable PDF documents and have Acrobat Standard 7.0.

Should I go for a sheet-fed scanner? What do you think of the Visionner models (e.g. Strobe, or One Touch 8650)? I have always been partial to HP but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks for your assistance!
