Congrats for choosing the KEF speaker set. A nice choice.

Obviously there is no one receiver to have. May I suggest you take a look at the Onkyo 606 or its last model year 605 version. Nice if it could be had as a closeout. Onkyo has gotten very good support the past couple of years for aggressively bringing to the public first the up to date HDMI 1.3 connectivity as well as lots of fine features at a new standard of value.

That said, I mention I have had Denon for several years; totally satisfied with zero problems or any reliability issues. C/NET reviews here actually rate Denon a bit better for sound than Denon & perhaps more importantly, higher for reliability. Denon has not been as aggressive lately & don't usually expect to find as much of a discount.

You really couldn't really go wrong with either choice. Onkyo is also a bit more user friendly.

I completely agree Bill I offer this as a side note: At least, Onkyo TXSR705 or 706, or Denon AVR888. I have an Onkyo 605 and it runs my speakers very well, but those particular KEF's would benefit from a bit more than 90 wpc. I have run them at the store with 130 wpc (txsr805) and they were beautiful.

In addtion to my earlier question....

what about Sony STRDG2100 7.1-Channel Surround Sound A/V Receiver. Fry's offering a good deal with a price tag of $699. Will it go well with KEF 3005?

and use a Denon 888. I have no complaints and I always look forward to watching a movie or listening to music. If I had a little more money, I think I would've gotten the Denon 2308, but for my needs, I didn't really need the additional features. I also heard a lot of good things about the Onkyo 605 an 606, but after receiving suggestions from this forum and others, I decided on the Denon. Good luck.
