If the camcorder stays in one place, you should consider a stereo mic, the two you listed are mono, directional "camcorder mounted" shotgun mics not designed for loud audio/music capture.
If you like RODE, then look into the RODE Stereo VideoMic

There are a few others to investigate (Audio Technica, NRG Research, Tascam)
If the camera is going to be moving around - but you want the audio to remain consistent, then something like a Zoom H1, H2, H2n or H4n might be appropriate. Place the digital audio recorder in the "sweet spot" of the venue and press record - synch the audio with the video during editing.
Be sure to use the manual audio gain control on the camcorder - the manual has good instructions. And your camcorder has no way to mount the mic, so an inexpensive camera bracket

In this example, one accessory shoe for the mic, one for a video light.
Hi!
I recently just bought a Panasonic V720 Full HD camcorder and I will be using it mostly for my friends gigs. I brought it to there last one and I was amazed at how well the sound quality was for the internal mic, although I was positive I could find something to make it sound even better. Now here is the description of what I am looking for.
- has to be around 200-300 dollars
- has to be able to take loud noise (Rock music gigs) so something that possibly has a -10DB
- if possible, stereo.
- I dont care if it weighs 20 pounds and is as big as a arm I just want it to sound good
I was looking into possibly a RODE VideoMic Pro or Shure LensHooper VP83
What would be best?
Thanks for your help!
