Getting the tripod and light box is an excellent idea.
A versatile camera will serve you well.
A camera with some manual controls can help your with depth of field issues.
Take a good look at the Fujifilm S1500.
It has close-up and two macro settings.
You can find it from $150 to $200.

Hope to get some opinions. I need to find something under $200, preferably under $150 but I'm trying to be realistic, that has good close up or even macro capability. I'm photographing my handmade jewelry. I will be using a tripod and will have to get/build a light box set-up which limits what I spend on the camera. I can hunt for bargains, sales, etc. so waiting until January is fine.
Any suggestions welcome.
