Question

Best Places to Sell Used TVs

So I have a 58" Panasonic VT25 that needs a new SC board. I've been told by several people that even as not functioning unit, these high-end plasmas are still quite valuable to the right buyers as great plasma screens are not around anymore. I may have the set repaired to make sure it works before putting it up for sale.

Can you guys suggest any places besides eBay and Craigslist where I might have luck finding a buyer for the set?

you can check facebook. there seems to be a facebook yard sale site for most cities.

Any specific pages I should check out?

they are run by individuals

In reply to: Facebook

they could be called yardsale, garage sale, fleamarket or whatever. so no specific pages. Just do a search using facebook, name of your town, and one of the possible descriptions.

I was more hoping there would be some places to list it that were more focused on TVs/electronics that would understand why a used TV is selling for so much. Most garage sale/etc. places will just be people looking for cheap stuff, I'd guess.

people are always looking for cheap stuff

you will not get that much for a broken down old plasma tv, that MIGHT only need a SC board. I know resellers do look at craigslist, facebook ebay for parts and items that can be repaired. I know how frustrating it is to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on stuff then try to resell and people want it for next to nothing.

The only other option would be to call the different repair shops and ask them if they want to buy it. otherwise, basically you are out of luck.

a few years ago, I had a plasma tv that according to repair sites, all it needed was a card too - but no guarantee. I ended up putting it on the side of the road because nobody wanted it, even for parts. I even tried advertising on topix

Not necessarily true

It always depends on what you are selling and who's looking.

FWIW, I often see 'garage sale' type facebook sites in wealthier areas with high prices and quick sales, relatively speaking. YMMV.

I am just curious, but...

how much are you asking? I also think something like this is limited in your area. I would never buy this if it has to ship.

Answer
Why not donate it if you are not using it anymore?

In reply to: Best Places to Sell Used TVs

I usually replace my electronics every two years or so and when doing so I always donate my old equipment to a local thrift shop that uses proceeds to funds programs for the homeless.

May I suggest that you do the same? It will give you good feeling.
