Question

Best place to purchase laptops?

Jul 12, 2015 6:17AM PDT

Hello everyone,

I'm looking at purchasing the new Dell XPS 13, but am not sure where to buy it. Amazon is my go-to place, but they have a very limited selection. I'm looking at picking up the i5 model with 8GB of RAM and the 256GB SSD, and Amazon doesn't seem to have this available. I also checked newegg, but they only have the i5 with 4GB of RAM and the 128GB SSD.

Do I really just need to order this off of the Dell website?

Thanks!

I've never heard of Woot before, so I will check that out!

About price.

Is it close enough to add RAM via Crucial.com? As to the SSD, one could get some 256 SSD and upgrade? Do the numbers work?

Places like Amazon and Best Buy

will get models in which the vendor can't modify the PC (Pre-Sale). The best place with options to modify the configuration is thru Dell itstelf. TYhis is true for almost all vendors. Acer is one that sells preconfigured only and only sell thru 3rd parties.
