Best PDF maker and why?

Are there any problems among the different makers of pdf, if you make a book, will it be having problems with the variety of E book-readers?

Is Adobe acrobat X the best or.....

I see no reason to use it unless there is something else I need like PDF FORMS (which I turn to Adobe) but for now I use DoPDF, CutePDF and PDF output from Open Office without any fuss.
