Question

Best online Employee Time tracker

Mar 11, 2015 1:15AM PDT

I am a business owner. I recently heard about online punch clocks. I want an easy to use service.
Any recommendations?

Answer
None.

Why? Because you asked for the best you need to describe in detail what makes up the "best" for you.

That said, https://www.google.com/#q=software+time+clock+free and such find a glut of products. For me I think that any web based product is a miss because the internet isn't always up. Our governments have an off switch plus all the other reasons it goes down.

I really recommend clockin portal

I really recommend clockin portal. The service is great. I like that you can extract your timesheets in more than one format. It is very simple. I always know if my employees are at work or not from my online account. They cannot log in from any other location. It is restricted. You can change restrictions. But overall no one can work from home without my permission. I can control users accounts the way I like. My employees don't complain anymore. Their time is calculated accurately. Not the regular complaints I used to get. My direct supervisor made me work for more hours. I want overtime. Everything is documented. It is really a great service for everyone.

There are lots of different tools that help your business track employees activities and time. I can recommend you to try out WorkExaminer software. It track employees activities online, time tracking, block certain websites and many other useful options.

Try Worktime Professional. Free for 30 days. It's enough to understand if it satisfies your needs.
But it doesn't contain any spying features. So you won't be able to track email or IMs.

Standard Time was used in the office I used to work a couple of years ago. Licenses should be affordable and it is simple, yet efficient for small to medium sized businesses.

Time tracking is simple and lightning fast with Harvest. Set up takes seconds, and there’s nothing to install. We’ve simplified the timesheet and timesheets approval process so you can stay focused on work.

Simple to use – One click time tracking. It’s never been this easy.
Simple to access – Track time anywhere. From your web browser, mobile phone or desktop.
Simple to deploy – No installation or lengthy manual to read.

Have a great day!

Let's say I'm in the outback where there is spotty internet or no internet. I didn't see a standalone version we can install on our server.

Customisable software

I think you can check time and attendance tracking software that is customisable. I just happened to do a research on customisable software with TimeFiler. I sent enquiry and waiting for response.

Using such a spy program might need an agreement from the employee or the workers counsel (or whatever it's called), depending on your countries (privacy) laws.

Every country has laws regarding monitoring employees.
But almost none of those laws permits spyware.
