Best music organizing software

by gillettej / June 25, 2010 1:25 AM PDT

I just bought a new pc finally with windows 7 loaded. I have a lot of music on my old pc that's spread across multiple folders and hard drives. Some of the files are even from the Napster days and don't have complete tags or standardized file name stuctures.

Is there a software that will scan my comutper, find all of the music file, consollidate them into a standard folder structure and fill in the blanks as far as tags go and find album art and just clean up the mess i've spent years creating. I have itunes and that just doesn't do enough. Please let me know if you know of anything that can handle all of the tasks i mentioned, especially dealling with old untagged files. Thanks for your help.

Music organizer

I'd like to renew the discussion about music organizers and
ask you for some recommendations concerning this kind of software. I have a
huge music collection and would like to put it in order at last. Also I need to
keep information about my albums and artists, so it would be great if the
program could provide such capabilities. Most albums in my music library are on
CDs and I often forget where this or that album disappears, so I just need some
kind of music catalogue.

If somebody has any suggestions I'd be happy to take a look
at them

Hi! No suggestions here, so let me <span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> report my own experience with music
organizers, in case somebody would have the same problem.

After trying out a lot of programs I liked the MediaMan
catalogue. It was a decent option since it could work with not only music, but
with movies, books and games as well. Its interface was simple and intuitive, using
the program didn't take much effort and the information layout seemed to be
comfortable. But after some time I understood that my quest for a media library
organizer wasn't over. MediaMan had some significant flaws that I couldn't
stand. Firstly, it didn't work with artists, sending to Google if you wanted to
find out something about a band or a singer. Further, information about movies
and games was rather comprehensive, but articles about albums were miserable
and hardly informative. And the last, it had not much capability to track my CD
and DVD albums, especially the ones that I lent.

So I am still looking for a music cataloguing software and any
suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, folks!

Seems like I've found what I was searching for! There were a
lot of music organizers, but I never saw the functionality I found in Musicnizer. It is an amazing tool for creating an illustrated catalogue of your
music collection. The program automatically downloads album reviews and
biographies of artists saving them later to enable browsing even while being
offline. This way you get a comprehensive music library catalogue with enhanced
searching capabilities. Musicnizer helps you to organize albums on CDs or LPs,
it doesn't depend on data carriers. You can form reports of album collections
and export them to various formats. I like the interface of this program and
its link-based information layout, like in Wikipedia. I'd recommend to try it
out, it's worth your time!
