In your opinion, what is the best music player for under $200 and why?

best mp3

Uhm, it is impossible to answer your too generic question. It depends on what features are priority for you. ( sound quality or design, touch or tactile control, just audio or both audio and video, wide range of file extension support or not, ...etc...).
There is no "best" one.

Sansa Fuse

I'd recommend the Sandisk Sansa Fuse 8 Gb. Add on a 16GB micro SDHC card and you get 24 GB of flash memory for less than $200. The sound quality of this player is phenomenal. Its functionality is great.

iPod 3rd Generation Nano
Jan 19, 2009 7:47AM PST

Personaly, I would go for the iPod 3rd Generation Nano if I had a $200 budget.

Why? All my songs are on iTunes and it's easier to get a new mp3 rather than redirecting all my files out of the iTunes library. The iPods these days are very slim and good looking, and best of all... They have very good innovation. I've had my iPod 30GB for approx. 1 year and I cannot recall the last time I had a problem (besides the time where I had to ship it because of low battery... but that's normal for all rechargeable mp3 players).

Below is a link to the iPod 3rd Generation Nano.

(ps it's in Canadian dollars).

depends

i like my sansa e series because it's fairly small yet handle-able,,,but it's clumsy when i want to change directories.

i like my sony 728 and 729. great great screen, easy navigation, awesome battery life, really nice looking, common sense placement of the earjack at the bottom(since i always place my player upside down in my pocket). very intuitive.

cowons are ugly but they have great sound and their buttons are similar to the iriver t series.

i tend to use the iriver t10 the most because i use it all the time at the gym. for gym use, i think the t10 is the best there is. improved lock switch. but mainly it's the clip at one end that allows you to clip the player onto anything anywhere,,,while other people hold their players or use that ugly arm strap, i can clip the t10 anywhere including the waist band of my shorts(which is the most common sense place to put it)

btw,,,,i am totally anti-apple

another thing
May 10, 2009 3:08PM PDT

battery life is most important to me and all the players i mention get good(sansa) to great(iriver, sony, cowon) battery life. i'm talking 50hrs, though the sony has to be charged while the iriver and cowon use one AA, which is a great convenience.

Samsung

The Samsung P2 with 8GB, because it has a touchscreen, a high quality display and a preety sound! It also offers Bluetooth, allowing you to answer your calls from your P2 instead of your cellphone. It has voice recorder, subway maps, games, radio... I actually own one and love it. Maybe you should try it.

Why bother with a response?

It's been 4 1/2 months and the guy hasn't responded back to the thread at all. Probably forgot that they posted the question to begin with.
