Some USB addon thing. I use that feature so infrequently that I can't say I'd saddle my decision to "must have" this. Also as a Game Developer it would be unwise to make a game require this so try to do without.
What I'd like?
That MacBook Pro of the screen size you noted. It has a top end video system and can boot XP or Vista too. Apple has a free developer toolkit so you can dive in and maybe pick up a second market for your game.
Toshiba, Dell and others have nice Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 256MB 3D Video chipset systems so the list is a little long to type in here. Maybe you can toss out what you can get and what makes your list here for others to comment on.
ok so ive been asking about laptops to fix up and to upgrade and all that stuff. now with the help of someone i realize this is futile. so now i ask of u all what is the best laptop that u know of that can take of the needs of a computer game programmer that needs a really good graphics card, a big screen like 17'' or more, is a desktop replacement laptop or something close to it (i want the number pad on it), and is at a reasonable price. thanks
