Believe it or not. The best protection is you.

In reply to: Best Internet Security Program

I know it sounds corny but we remain the best protection. It's our choice to install apps or visit bad sites. There are few Viruses that install themselves. That is, I haven't seen one in over a decade.

The recurring infections I see were installed by the PC owner.

So I've been using Windows Defender and beefing up my browser security with an adblocker called Ublock Origin.

Since you get deeper into this stuff than I do what 3rd party shields are you using in ubo and why?

3rd party?

In reply to: Off topic

I'm using Ublock Origin and will have to look into what 3rd party shields are available for UBO.

For me the basic protection of Windows Defender and Ublock Origin is enough to make getting on the web a pleasant experience.

I'm using the same setup Bob.

In reply to: 3rd party?

Ublock is as it comes here. I'm having no problems without using 3rd party shields.

I think it comes stock with some 3rd party shields enabled.

Take a look at the ubo dashboard.

Might have said that wrong.

Maybe I should have said without altering any settings.

Just stock.

In reply to: Ubo

Did not tinker or add anything beyond stock. If you ask me about 3rd party shields, that would be something I add later.

Which 3rd party filters do 'you' have a tick in?

Agreed

I am totally agreed. Most of the viruses gets entered in our PC by the random programs we install. If we keep a bit of security before installing any tool or software, we can prevent virus.
