Best Gaming Monitor?

Jun 10, 2009 2:15AM PDT

I am not sure which monitor would be the best for gaming. I have choosen bentween 3 available monitors.

1:benq v2400w (with a 1920 x 1200 resolution)

2:Dell S2409W (with 1920 x 1080 resolution)

3:Dell SP2309W (with 2048 x 1152 resolution)

I mainly play WoW (World of Warcraft) and looking for a monitor which displays this game the best. I am not sure which resolution is best for the game so I would appreciate your help.

Personally

Personally, I wouldn't touch the non-UltraSharp Dell LCD monitors. There's just no comparison in the quality of the display.

I would STRONGLY recommend, if you're looking at a 24", to look at the UltraSharp 2408WFP. There will be an added cost, but UltraSharp monitors are among the best out there quality wise. Ranking right up there with Apple's Cinema Displays. I still have an UltraSharp monitor I got in 2001 that's working great.

You also want to be aware of the type of panel used. If it's a TN+ panel, run fast and far. Those have horrendous viewing angles. You move even a couple inches from dead center, and you'll start to notice some discoloration effects. A much better panel tech, is SPV-A, or something like that.

And I have to admit, that if you can afford it, Dell's UltraSharp 2709W is a mighty fine monitor. The touch sensitive controls are a little obnoxious, but you don't generally need to tinker with those that much anyway.

Start reading would be my advice. Check sites like Tom's Hardware and other places that do monitor reviews. Look for monitors that have the newer SPV-A panels in them. It might cost a bit more, but it will be worth it. Even if you have to put off buying a little longer to build up the additional funds.

monitor recommendations

i personally use an Acer 23 inch h233h monitor. its specs are 4000:1 contrast ratio, 5 ms responce time, true 1080p, allows for vga, hdmi hookups and includes all cables. it was a great deal for under $200, it was on sale, even not on sale the reviews are high and places that do reviews have said that the monitor is easily comparable to $400-$600 models.
i personally own one and believe it was totally worth it, especially considering you can own 2 of these for the price of one you are looking at, and spec wise, are gaining very little.

I use the 26 inch asus VW266H. 2ms response time. Splendid intelligence graphics and color 1920x1200. 20,000:1 contrast ratio. 16:10 aspect ratio. And 300cd/m2 Brightness.. and the price is ridiculously low for the quality.
