BEST FRONT PROJECTOR FOR $3500

Aug 20, 2005 8:43AM PDT

Iam thinking of buying the SONY vpls51 projector but I havent seen one yet, and my second concern is most front projectors are only 720 and my 65" 3 tube rear projection t.v. is 1080 . So will a front projector look as good or better than my 3 ton rear project set, Also I will be using d.v.i. input from my dish 811 tuner and DENON 2910 d.v.d. player? thank you stewart norrie

I am looking for a projetor as well and have found something that I believe to be a very very good deal. The Optoma H57 DLP Projector. It is 1080i 1600x1200 HD conpatible and has many DVI and other inputs/ouputs that are not always found on lower priced projectors. This site has some info on it.

I found one availble here in Canada for $2,299. Which comes with mounts and a 92" HD Panoview screen.

BEST FRONT PROJECTOR FOR $3500

Hi Stewart,
The Sony looks good, It will resize all other formats to 1280x720.
"concern is most front projectors are only 720 and my 65" 3 tube rear projection t.v. is 1080 ".
This is very had to say without a side by side comparison.
Is there some place you can go to look at one to see how it handles this? It is hard to finds places that have good a demo setup for front projectors.
The Sony is $2699 at http://www.projectorpeople.com.

This is the lowest cost 1400x1050 projector I have found, it is 3500 ANSI lumins, so it is very bright. Down side cost $5900.

At this point in time if you want to go HDTV projection
on a budget it looks like 1280x720 is it. John
