Best Free Screen and Game Recorder

by 808MonsterPC / December 29, 2010 7:56 AM PST

My PC Spec:
OS: Win7 Ultimate
CPU:AMD AthlonII AM3 620
Video Card:ATI Radeon HD 5750
TV Tuner:ATI TV Wonder 600

As you can see I am able to record TV and Game Consoles now I need a software(s) to record screen and game. Something that has no time limit, can run off and online(both in game and whether its connected to the internet or not), high quality, no watermark like Fraps and its Free.
Something you recommend and personally use. Obviously im recording games and screen recording is for tutorial and sample/test comparison(example is what this video would look like on your desktop compare to this(Dreamscene). The format im look most is .avi, .mpg, .wmv, or .mp4 but any others will do since I should be able to convert them myself. Another thing that I want to know is the customizable settings like framerate, format, keys, etc.

I see some mention of encodings so while some get hung up on that, I can always transcode it later with VIRTUAL DUB or SUPER.

Okay screen recording isnt working so well what about games? Right now im using xfire but theres problems. One is that you have to be online for it to work and second is that it doesnt work for all games. The thing about FRAPS besides the watermark is the time limit.

FRAPS is pretty cheap.

I don't see a watermark or time limit in the paid versions.

Your comment about it not working for games is odd. You are correct about ALL GAMES but if you research FRAPS and that game you usually find a solution.

I'm guessing you are loathe to pay for a solution?
