you will spend too much time suffering like I did.
I have a 06 ford escape (non hybrid) and I tried using a FM transmitter.
And it STUNK !!!!!!!!! (not enough explimation points in the world to say how unhappy I was with it)
It was always fuzzy even with podcasts, and forget it if your in any major areas to find a station that is not bleeding though enough to give you a clear signal (only got that when sitting still )
I also highly recomend choosing a decent radio to repalce in your vehicle get a decent radio with a Aux in port on the front or back.
I recomend mounting it in a cradle so you can still operate it.
The radio I bought was a sony and while it DID have integration with the Ipod it's preformance was horrable. Just plugging it in while the vehicle was on caused it to start playing if the radio was on. It just played from the "all songs" deal and you had to stop it.
Changing the play type from that to playlists (because It would not remember I wanted to only use playlists and not albums or artists) was a hassle and then choosing playlists was a hassle.
Then selecting a track was a adventure since you could not just have a list to select from.. it had to start playing the playlists first and you had to jump tracks.
All I am saying is if its a Ipod, I am used to controlling it one way.. the volume button should act like a scroll wheel when it is pressed and not as just volume (caught myself several times doing that)
Just not satisfied with the current way of interfacing that a radio gives vs a Ipod (since a radio is built to be a radio)
I have since gone to using my old cradle that I love and the Power adapter that I love and its Audio out (I don't like having to plug more then one wire to my Ipod to get it working on the radio) that plugs into the Aux port on the front.
Hope I helped...
I just bought an old Lexus (92) with an antenna in the back, and I'm interested in purchasing the Ipod FM transmitter with the best reception. I've read that Monster ICar is the best, then i read that DLO is the best. CNET gives an "Editors Rating" to DLO but the review was back in '05. Strictly in terms of reception (no static), which is the best right now? I don't care about looks. My car's cigarette lighter is actually hidden in its own compartment and I plan to stash the transmitter and Ipod right in this compartment.
