Best flash drive in a small package

Aug 17, 2010 10:37AM PDT

Hi, I'm a computer technician and student, so I practically live off of my flash drive. I currently have a 16GB SanDisk Extreme Contour which I love. The build quality is solid and reliable (I've dropped it countless times and it is still perfect). However, it is a bit bulky in the width department.

When I deal with a computer that has USB ports which are extremely close together or are positioned next to each other, like this:

. ____ ____
[____] [____]

My flash drive tends to cover up a portion of the ports next to it. Given that I work with machines that I need every available port, I really need that extra space.

So, I'm looking for another drive I can use, one that is small, but not a flimsy little thing that will break like those tiny PNY switch ones that have a fully exposed tip with no metal casing. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good USB Flash drive? Anyone care to share what they use and what their experiences are?

Thanks!

Lexar Firefly 16GB

Picked up a Lexar Firefly flash drive a couple of weeks ago. Small, but seems sturdy. It's the smallest of my flash drives and the largest capacity.

I've seen short ones for like laptops.
