Question

Best fan for fractal r5 case and h100i

Feb 14, 2015 10:04PM PST

Hi,

I want to buy more fan for my new fractal r5 case. What fans would be good to add at at the front and bottom ?

Also I find that my h100i fans make a good amount of noise at idle. What would be a good replacement for them without sacrifing the cooling. ?

Should I put the h100i at the front ?

I see no one can answer which would be the "Best." The reason is simple for a few reasons.
1. There are likely some hundred fans that would fit.
2. The item could be best for price, life span, noise or CFM.

No one I know dives into fans deeply anymore. I do however like to see ball bearings if available but you see what happens to the price.

The https://www.google.com/search?q=h100i&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 finds a near 100 bucks CPU cooler that again, something I've never used. The stock HSF worked in nearly all PCs so it's a guess why this was added. Overclockers tend to be a volatile bunch and will explode on many discussions. Let's hope for better here.

I'd return that since it's unacceptable and look at what Toms used on their Red Devil.

This is similar to something I used on one of my last desktops. It was huge but not noisy.

I take a look at what Newegg have. OMG, compared to what I use to a few decades ago, wow maybe I should go back to school (just for the fans, hehe). But really though, as I was reading it, it sounds like a snake oil sale pitch to me. But am I not correct to say that the higher the CFM probably the more noisier it get? Would the type of bearing also make a difference and which is the most quiet...I don't know. Good luck in your search.
