Best Domain Register?

by RajSaraf / April 2, 2005 3:27 PM PST

Can anyone give some logical insight about choosing a place where to renew the domain name registration?

Anybody knows about Hostway? Are they any good? They seem to be most economical.

I will not mind transfering my domain to a more expensive registerar if they are materially better.

I will highly appreciate any help.

Your-Site is one solution.

If you are looking to register a domain AND host it, I might suggest www.your-site.com

They are relatively inexpensive at $5/month for hosting, including 50MB space and 6GB of transfer. Plenty of mailboxes, and signing up s a cinch. No, I don't work for them. I just use 'em. I'm not even trying to get their $7 referral fee. It is looks like a good solution, then it probably is.

Their servers seem quite reliable during the last two year period I've used them. And they are constantly working to improve their technology and equipment. They have all new servers going in soon (supposed to be January and it's not going quickly).

I've also registered a second domain through them, and "parked" it with them (for free), where I have no content, but have the domain registered to me until I can upload the site. Then I plan to have them host also. Some complain that 50MB isn't enough for content, and that just depends on what you need.

I don't think your-site offers shopping cart solutions, you'd need to get your own cart software. That's a difference from Hostway, they seem to offer shopping cart software/hosting also. But I don't know anything about Hostway, sorry. Cheers.

web hosting

after looking long for a webhosting service, and domain registry. i found my solution at 1and1.com. there domain registry is 5.99 per year, which is about 1/4 the price of the next closest price i have found. for webhosting, i use the business package which is 9.99 per month. the home package includes more stuff than i have ever needed. i won't try to cover it all but it is 4.99 per month and you get 1000 mb of web space and 25 gigs of monthly transfer volume.
www.1and1.com they were my solution. perhaps they may be yours. check it out for yourself.

Hmm... I might switch to 1and1

Klikz' info makes me consider switching. Especially once I get my second site/domain up, because the 3 domain hosting for $10 with 2GB space and 50GB of transfer sounds like a good step up.

I hope they are as reliable as what I've been using, anything LESS than their prices would really have me wondering if somebody just has 3 consumer servers in their basement or something, you know. But 1and1.com looks legit.

Tks klikz.

I thought IXWebhosting was best

I am thankful to this forum & Klikz. My original question was for domain registerar & after extensive shopping during my free time this weekend, I found that 1and1 was offering the best deal.

Not only that, I think they offer the best deals for hosting too. Currently I am using IXWebhosting at 19.99 per month for hosting 6 domains with unlimited space, 30gb monthly transfer, unlimited mail etc. but my size of business doesn't even need that much.

The only thing I have yet to find out is how reliable/stable service 1and1 will provide.

If you are using any kind of service with
PHP, MYSQL you will start running into problems.
Their servers crash all the time,
we averaged about 24 hours downtime everyweek,
now we have to change our email and web solutions to another company.
Just beware, and keep this in mind,
search google about ixwebhosting and read other people's
"PEOPLE" not marketing sites-- reviews.
I hope this helps , we really had a terrible experience with these people.
