What is the best option for about $200? Can I have a good 4 mp digital cam for around that range of price?

Thanx!

I can't answer that. There's a lot out there, but I did get my dad a refurb CX7430 from http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=CX7430-R&cat=CAM and he's happy with it.

He also lucked out an they had a dock for 20 bucks. But those come and go. His machine has Windows XP Pro so the supplied drivers just installed and he was taking pictures.

Just an addendum.

The model I noted came in a Kodak box, refurbed by Kodak, with their seal, new CDs and all the parts. Not a scratch or issue. I couldn't tell it was used.

There are a LOT of good cameras on eBay.

I've gotten 2 of my current 3 there, and have been quite satisfied (I won the other; a 2mgpx which I no longer use). I'm now thinking I will buy new, but the used ones certainly served their purpose.

I don't know which is the "best" option, but here are three 4 megapixel cameras listed at newegg.com for under $200.

$180 - Fujifilm A340 - 3x Optical Zoom
$198 - Hewlett Packard 812 - 3x Optical Zoom
$195 - Sony P41 - No optical zoom.

There were several "little known" brands listed too.

It's a good camera for us. Here's why. It was well under 200 bucks with the dock refurb from you know who. The batteries last for hundreds of shots and are AAs. The combo of 4 MP and 3X optical is a good "balance".

Quirks?

- The optics are a little fuzzy. But a good match to the 4MP sensor.
- The audio of the video recording needs a little foam stuffed in the mic to prevent it from being overloaded.
