Question

Best Camera/Video Recorder

Jun 20, 2012 4:28PM PDT

I am looking for a good camera & video recorder with audio. I have not kept up with the technology in these areas, so I am looking for a recommendation on a top unit in each category; 1. camera, 2. video recorder with audio (preferably ear piece). I have done some research and noticed how much the technology has changed since i purchased my last digital camera. I saw one that was something like 60 X zoom. Anyway, some suggestions would be appreciated. I have all Apple computers, just in case I want to load the HDD video on my Apple desktop or laptop.
Thanks.

A few more details would be good.
Budget?
What are you going to use them for?
What your photography experience level?
Does size matter?

Kooler1 has not provided any additional information about the camera(s) he wants.
He appears to want a digital camera and a Camcorder.
Since a number of people have been interested in his question, here is some additional information.

I can not find any Digital Camera with 60X optical zoom
The largest zoom I find is the Nikon P510 at 42X.
Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, and Olympus have digital cameras with zooms around 30X.
He may have been thinking about 60X zoom on a camcorder.

For information on Camcorders, people should post Camcorder questions on the Camcorders Forum.

For people who want one camera with the best abilities from both digital cameras and Camcorders, the bad news is that no one has built such a camera (yet).

Digital Camera designers make their cameras for still-pictures and they treat video as an afterthought.
Camcorder designers make their cameras for video and they treat still pictures as an afterthought.
Videos from Digital cameras are usually OK but you have very few special features and sound is second class.
Still-Pictures from Camcordrs are usually OK but you have very few of the abilities you need for first class photos.
