Question

Best camera in the $400-$550 range?

Jan 30, 2012 8:12AM PST

Hello,
If I wanted to spend between $400 and $550 for a digital
camera, can you recommend some to me? I received the GE X500 for a
Christmas present. Ironically, my mother WHO GAVE ME THE CAMERA wants me
to send it back due to fact that it does not have HD on it.However, I
like the way the camera feels in my hand. I like the grip that is on the
camera. Because I notice that some cameras are really flat and to me
they could easily drop. I had a Yaschica camera for years which used film. It took fabulous pictures but now digital is the new thing so I would like to find a camera that would take really good pictures and would be of use to me for years to come.

But I did notice with the GE X500 that
when I went to print out pictures, they printed out with much more
deeper colors than what I saw on the display screen. It's like the
pictures came out darker.
So any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

Thank you for your response/Features

Hello PistonCupChampion,

Thank you for your post. Basically, I want a camera that will take overrall great pictures(indoors, outdoors, parties, moving objects, great zoom features). My Yashica had a feature where you could take pictures if you were looking through a window. You would press this certain button and the pictures would come out great. I want that same Yashica quality that I had with my film camera..only in a digital one.

Also do you know if they make cameras where you can email pictures right from your camera?

I am not a professional photographer but having the Yashica camera for all of these years really gave me an appreciation for great pictures and I could see my self taking a photography class in the near future.

Zoom

The one thing the T2i does not have is a lot of zoom; the standard lens is an 18-55mm 3x lens. You can of course purchase separate, more powerful zoom lenses to supplement the standard lens. But otherwise it will be FAR superior to the GE camera in every way, and would certainly be an excellent choice for using in a photography class.
