First you need a camcorder with an external microphone socket and, if you are supplying an audio input from, say, the headphone out of a sound system you will also need an attenuator lead. (I got mine from SESCOM) The attenuator lead will reduce the "line" input to a level for the camera mic input.
I use a Panasonic HC-V750 camcorder. It has a 29.5mm wide angle lens setting so should be wide enough. It also has five recording modes which allow more video to be recorded with lower quality. For example on a 16Gb SD card, the highest quality is 1hr 20min to, on the lowest quality 6hr 40min. You can record using a power supply from the mains as well as battery.
On your PC, Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker are supplied but I find it better to use a proper Video Editor (mine is Corel VideoStudio Pro X7) You will need to render your raw video to a suitable file for SD DVDs and then burn the DVDs using this ready made file.
Hope this helps.
I am new here and hoping for some ideas. Our church is discussing recording our Sunday services as an outreach to our ill & shut in memebers that cannot attend for whatever reason. We would like to record and then "burn" to DVD for anyone that cannot make our services. So comments, links or whatever to help us decide on a camcorder able to record at least an hour with wide angle capacity and possibly audio input as we use a small sound system during worship that could be "jacked" in.
