simple video pass-thru but its best to leave the upconversion to the nicest piece of equipment in the chain. If that happens to be your TV, let it do the job. If its your blu-ray player or upconverting DVD player, let it do the job, etc. I wouldn't let my receiver upconvert video and I have an Onkyo 706 which is not that cheap.
I am looking for a receiver that does a good job on upconversion of analog signals without breaking the proverbial bank. I use a Wii and some of the models I have have reserached CNET does not recommend for the Wii because of poor analog upconversion. Any reccomendations?
