Question

Best Back-up softwares

Jan 3, 2015 10:29PM PST

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if you could provide recommendations on back-up software that can help me back up my files? If you could kindly provide me with reliable websites or guides, that would be very helpful. Thank you for your help.

- What do you want to backup: files, a system image or both?
- What do you want to backup to: cloud, external disk, USB-stick, other PC in your home network, DVD?
- What OS (Linux, Windows, Mac?)

What I use software (Windows 7):
1. xxcopy (free) to backup new and changed files in selected folders to USB-stick
2. xcopy to copy (part of Windows) the results from #1 to another PC in my home network
3. Acronis True Image (the free WD edition) to make images of both my system drive and data drive (not my archive drive), storing them on that same other PC and an external disk.

A fellow member here usually recommends Easeus Free Backup.

As Kees says, I use Easeus Todo Backup Free

I've been using Easeus Todo Backup Free for several years, and have never had any problems with it. I set it to back up my system automatically and it does it. I can restore individual files, folders, or the whole system, and I can make a bootable CD to use in case my system doesn't want to boot. It's free for home use.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I will first determine exactly what, and where, I want to backup Windows and then come back with more specific questions!
