Question

Best app to create and Edit Microsoft Word Documents?

Apr 21, 2012 7:52PM PDT

I have an iPad 3 and would like to be able to create and edit documents in Word. My laptop is Windows 7. I've read about OnLive Desktop, CloudOn, Documents to go, but I can't figure out which one is the best to use. I'd appreciate any advice offered. Thanks!

you would still have the problem of opening a Word document on the iPad. (there is a not a number 3 in the name)

Word does not exist for iPad, any version, but Pages may be able to open the Word document.

BTW, I am aware that there isn't a "3" in the name, but wanted to clarify the iPad I have.

I am looking for something that would not require an internet connection, so that I would be able to work on documents anywhere.

Suggestions?

Any idea when Microsoft may come out with Office for iPad?

Thanks!

So far, never.

MSFT is hard at work making their own pad systems. For now you should take a look at Pages.

However, there is a GIGANTIC issue with systems that don't install printer drivers. Part of how Word renders relies on hints from the printer driver to get to the WYSIWYG display.

Since no printer drivers are in the iPad, no true WYSIWYG. Will that be an issue for you?

Word doc's anywhere with iPad

Here's two ways to try accessing and creating Word doc's anywhere with iPad.
Use Pages and Dropbox (or maybe next week Google Drive).
or Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office.

I doubt Microsoft will come out with Office for iPad anytime soon.

"Use Pages and Dropbox"

It's as close as I've seen this. It's not exact for the reason I gave, but it's close.
