Best affordable PC for engineering

by Swoolfys / October 17, 2017 11:10 AM PDT

Hello. Having just started at university I am looking for a decent PC capable of running programs for a fire engineering degree. I only have an Asus zenbook which isn't really up to the task of running FDS for CFD modelling although at the moment I am using B-Risk and firewind.
Any help will be much appreciated as I have a very limited knowledge of hardware but pretty sure I don't want a laptop. Are palicomp any good? They said that 1k would get something half decent?
Thanks, Sam
