Best Advanced Point & Shoot Digital Camera Under $1,000

Seeking best advanced point & shoot camera under $1,000. Will use for travel, nature closeups, architechtural detail. Why are so many better advanced cameras seemingly stuck on 10Mb - would think at those prices, I could get 12-16Mb.

You will need to look at DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras to get what you want.

The smaller cameras with 14 and 16 megapixels are walking a tightrope regarding picture quality. Many of the new small cameras have worse image quality than the year before.
Just too many pixels on a too small sensor assembly.

You need a camera with a much larger sensor assembly, like any of the DSLR cameras.

Look at any of the entry level DSLR cameras.

Canon 500D/T1i
Canon 550D/T2i
Nikon D3100
