Best 720p video recorder for the car

Hi I am looking for a resonable high res camera with stabilization and chip storage. Yes a dash cam, I drive 100k + miles per year and had a terrible accident in 2004. Its all about documentation. One that can connect to the cigarette lighter. Some optical zoom to knock out the hood. Open to ideas that work or what you have tried.
