Best 1GB Flash mp3 player availalbe?

Jan 14, 2005 11:45AM PST

I'm looking for the best 1GB+ flash mp3 player currently available. Price (as long as its below $400 or so) isn't really an issue.

Criteria: terrific sound, customizable EQ, decent recordable FM receiver, durable, dependable.

Right now I've narrowed it down to these: iRiver IFP899, Creative Labs MuVo Micro200 vs. iAudio's entry.

Which do you think is best? Why? Or maybe there are even better models out there I'm not aware of? Thank you!

I like my iriver

I did much research before settling on the iriver899. I am a fanatical exercise junkie and needed long battery life and lots of storage and of course great sound.
Being an auto mechanic in a former life, I wanted flash memory(no moving parts) and a changeable battery. Moving parts and nonreplaceable batteries will cause alot of problems eventually and with the amount of money these things cost I didn't want to feel cheated or inconvinenced.

I've lived with this player for about three months now with no problems. I like the ease of use, once you get used to it.

I'm hoping they will come out with a 2,3,4,5 Gig flashplayer with the same criteria or I'll just buy another 899.. Although, the 1000 series is looking good to me too.

Ohh, I had to buy directly from iriver, shipped from milpitas, ca..

Essentials: Sony earbuds, fm transmitter (battery and car socket).

I've had the FY400 (Best Buy ~ $160) and it has all your needs, and at this price I couldn't pass it up. Good luck hunting

I assume the battery with this player is removable? Has anyone else tried this product?

What does Creative's 1GB Flash version of the Zen Micro look like?

Has anyone seen the display in action?

From what I can tell, it's identical to the 5 gig version, only with flash memory instead of an HD.
