best 1 CCD mini dv camcorder for low light rec.

Apr 14, 2005 4:36AM PDT

I am looking for a 1 x CCD mini dv camcorder for home and travelling use, but am wanting one that is good in low light and is not too much of a hassle with controls. Also is PVGS120 any good for low light as I see it's affordable? Thanks to anyone who takes their time to answer me.

No. No color CCD seems to perform as well as our eyes in low light. Try those nightshot cameras.

I like your 'pun' Bob, but seriously is there anything digital (camera or camcorder) that is budget priced that can deliver anything decent in low light conditions as well as bright light conditions. Our present analog Sony is good in low light but HUGE and I can't stand the controls, I am always leaving it on and recording the lens cap.........

Compare the numbers.

You'll have to compare the LUX noted on your existing model and the new one and see if "on paper" it is better or worse.

Thanks for the tip, our current model has 0 so I guess it will be hard to beat, hey. Maybe we need to keep this for low light recording and get a budget digital for outside. Thanks a million for your help.
