Beginner setting up a network between a mac and PC

Aug 17, 2005 8:53AM PDT

My question is how do i know if it is set up correctly ?I have a Mac and just bought a PC .
Both computers are plugged into a router and i have internet access on both. I screwed up somewhere. when i go to network-->servers-->on the MAC i cannot find the shared folder i created on the PC it disappeared.
.I am not sure if i did the steps correctly on the PC.
1-Have file sharing on in the Mac
2-On the Pc i did network wizard.
3- I tried to ping both on the PC and Mac this is the answer i got
MAC-->
192.168.1.101 ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0.364/0.531/1.776 ms

PC-->> > packets: sent=4, Recieved =4, Lost = 0(0% Loss),
> Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
> Mininum= 0ns, Maxmum =0ms, Average= 0ms

On the PC it says under systems Properties-->Computer Name-->Computer Description-?? Name for which computer?
i want computer main then computer 2 network to home is that right??
Total Beginner here can someone help me understand
