Trump’s 'crazy' drug import plan stirs supply fears in Canada

Encouraging Americans to look for cheap Canadian imports could also spur the growth of illegal online pharmacies misrepresenting themselves as licensed Canadian pharmacies -- as it is, 600 new illegal pharmacy sites launch every month, the letter said.

Already, calls are growing for the Canadian government to push back. The Canadian Pharmacists Association said it’s “calling on the federal government to clearly express its opposition to U.S. drug importation, and immediately develop an action plan to respond to these proposals including restricting exportation of drugs from Canada to the U.S.”

Be careful when/if you send any money?

PS...I think anyone that has an excursion across the border and purchases prescription drugs should be required to be in the country at least 72 hours. Either that or pay an export duty on the drugs.....

Look around and see how nice it is up here.

IF I want to go across the border and buy some cigars...I have to pay duty UNLESS I spend some time and money for a "stay"...A Canadian has to pay a duty on importing cigars so an American should pay a duty on exporting prescriptions.

quid pro quo

Sounds like it would automatically increase construction of new temp lodging in the land of glorious Maples ( I absolutely adore the syrup - best I ever had was 100 per cent Canadian, not a mix of Vermont plus / minus, blah blah.)

Bad 'ting about _that_ is Trump would most likely try to capitalize and build ritzy and not-so ritzy Hotels, etc. with his "brand" on 'em. Heck, some more Golf "meccas" too, mayhap? :^) That dude just loves tourist money...

Some thoughts.

1. The Canadian reaction is quite proper. This is a big change for La Canada.
2. Illegal _____ sites are always springing up. In the case of pharmaceuticals there's the specter of fatalities. Let's hope it's handled properly in any case.
3. A stay requirement is reasonable. Room cost would then be factored in.
4. The world is changing, but I remember hose heads- sorry, Canucks- sorry, our wonderful neighbors to the north- as being very nice people. 60 years ago. Happy
5. Politics aside (Hah!) I'm very sympathetic to diabetics and others who have to cut corners to keep themselves alive.

Did I forget anything? Oh, yes- the Bible.
Isa 33:24. Best solution; also from government.

That's a very powerful and 'heavy' passage

Mr. Pruner! Glad I looked it up and read it, though. Nothing like the OT for
Ultimate Measures.

Not sure why, exactly, but I got a "synapse link" to one of the Narnia books ( " The Magician's Nephew " ) while reading it : Jadis the Last Queen describing her use of "The Deplorable Word" after Digory quite foolishly re-animates her. Also the Thrint in Larry Niven's "World Of Ptaavs" who also is foolishly / accidentally (?) 're-animated'
but luckily humanity (and everything sentient in reach, too!) is not subjected to the
"Die!" 'command' telepathically.
