I'll check with our product expert on this. Normally, I wouldn't recommend using one of those internal brushes, because it could knock the laser out of alignment. In most cases, it shouldn't even be needed as long as the disc tray is closed when not in operation and a quick "dusting" of the disc is done (if necessary) before placing it in the machine.
I'll get her take on this, though.

I did not see in thwe manual what is recommended to clean the laser in a blur ray. Does one use the standard CD cleaner type disk with the brush on it or what?
By the way...I love this thing! Once I got it to connect to Pandora and Netflix...it is great. Michael
