BD-P3600 Won't Play Glee BluRay Discs

Sep 15, 2010 5:54AM PDT

I have a BD-P3600 player. I got the first season of the TV show "Glee" on BluRay yesterday and I keep getting the message "searching for signal" on my TV screen. Then after a long time of the signal searching, I get a message on my TV about the BluRay DVD using the latest technology before the player again stops playing and starts "searching for signal" again shows on my TV screen. Sometimes the display on the p;ayer says "menu" or "00:00." I was able to get to the DVD main menu once after trying to play the DVDs several times and then when I hit "play," it locked up and it took me a while to get the DVD out of the player. Similar results will all the DVDs in the set. I do have the latest firmware.

PLEASE help!

Firmware
Sep 15, 2010 6:41AM PDT

What version of the firmware are you using? If it's v9.2 you are in a world of hurt like many others were for the past few months. All BluRay Disks from WB and Universal (I think) stopped working. First Samsung recommended downgrading your Firmware to the Previous version which they made available to us on their support web site. A week or two ago they released v12.2 which fixed these issues for me. Last week it wasn't available for live "Over the Internet" download, but it may be now. I'd recommend getting it from the support site and popping it on a USB stick (remember to unzip first). This method is so much faster than the live update.

Hope this helps,
PCH

I do have this firmware ( v12.2) already. I even reinstalled it. Same problem. This BluRay is from 20th Century Fox. Thanks anyway.

BD-P3600 Won't Play Glee BluRay Discs

Hope525,

I'll be happy to look into this.

Just to clarify, "Glee" is the Blu-Ray version and not the DVD version, correct?

Hope525,

Thanks. I'll send that up and see if I can get one of our specialists to test that out. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Glee Problems - Samsung player
Sep 16, 2010 12:07PM PDT

I'm also experiencing a problem with my Samsung - model BD-P1400. The Samsung site doesn't even have a firmware update for this model any more. Any thoughts? Am I SOL and I (unfortunately) need to buy a new Blu Ray player? If so, what are people highly recommending now?

Same Problem on BD-P1500
Sep 18, 2010 4:19AM PDT

Same problems here - Glee Blu-Ray discs will not play on my BD-P1500. After lots of flickering and "searching for signal" messages, I can usually get to the main menu of the DVD...but that's it. When I try to play an episode, I get the "warning" message (in another language?!) and then nothing.

SO frustrating. I've updated the firmware and every other disc I have plays.

Think there might be some sort of solution soon? I called customer support and that was a waste of time. All I was told was that I wasn't the first to call about the issue. Gee, thanks. That helps.

Same issue

I'm having the same issue. I updated my firmware with the 2.12 update, and the Glee discs still won't play. My other Blu-ray discs play just fine.

P3600 plays no BD
Sep 21, 2010 6:53AM PDT

Wont play most blu-rays now after update to 2.09. It will not update to 2.12 on a USB stick and says I have the latest version over wired internet connection. I think DVDs play ok but havent tried many. BDs lockup, pixelate, studder or wont load at all. All random. When will Samsung fix this issue? I'm ready to buy a different brand player (sony) but paid an outragious price for this one already a year and 1/2 ago.

stoltes,

If you're unable to load the new firmware, there may be an issue with the player itself. My recommendation would be to have it serviced.

I'm tracking the posts for the Glee title. I don't have any information yet.
