BD-P3600 Issue

May 3, 2010 2:14AM PDT

I recieved my BD player at Christmas. Have watched a total of one movie (bd) and now on movie two, the TV starts to have red/horizontal lines flickering in it. Then it flashes and stops altogether, but audio continues. Updated firmware. Everything worked again. But only for about 45 minutes of movie and then the same thing again. No matter the disc or type of disc, even on Pandora or the Menu itself.
I have taken back to Best Buy and told since I am beyond their "exchange" period, they will send it back to Samsung to get it fixed. But it will cost me 35 dollars at least. After reading through many forums, I don't understand why I should pay 35 dollars, Samsung should stand behind their products, come on? The BB folks suggested I purchase a different brand next time as they get a lot of Samsung BD players back. After reading about all the problems with these players, I will not seek assistance on this more than once. If it doesn't fix the problem, I will go with another brand. Perhaps I have purchased my last Samsung product.

jldoubleya,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue. I would recommend trying to call 800-SAMSUNG to see if you can explain your situation. Unfortunately, I'm not a member of the service department, so I have to suggest that you call them as your "one shot" to seek assistance.

Okay, now months later I have second 3600 unit. It is doing the same thing. I tried the player on another TV (720p Samsung) and it didn't have the problem. So back to square one. I have an older Onkyo av with 1080p passthrough (for video) and it's conncected to a newer Panasonic plasma. The audio continues to come through fine. The picture starts to degrade with lines and noise and then goes blank. Even with no disc in it. Does it with the menu screen. I have satellite hooked up through av and works fine. So doesn't it have to be with the onkyo ht settings or the panny plasma?

jldoubleya,

You might try connecting it directly to the television to see if you're still having this same issue. If not, you might connect the audio (optical) from the player to the receiver rather than using the pass-through.

But it would indicate where the problem is. If it doesn't flicker when directly connected to the TV, then it may not be an issue with the player.
