BD-P3600 frustration, repair and praise

by ekrainey1 / February 26, 2010 7:11 AM PST

I just want to share my experience with my blu-ray player. I bought it in early January and used it regularly. However it would freeze on certain dvd's and about half the BR disks. I really thought this was just a issue with decryption because it seemed to freeze in almost the same spot every time. Pc streaming has always seemed to work good and youtube streaming would periodically freeze also. On these system freezes the only thing that would bring it back is a complete power cycle. Slowly these freezes got worse and worse. To the point were i could only watch about 5 minutes of a BR. Also load times would take up to 5 minutes to play video. Didnt know if that was normal or not since i have never had a BR player before.

I finally got so fed up i called the tech support and they immediately sent me a shipping slip via email and i sent it to New Jersey for a fix. The whole process was a little slow, About 2 weeks from door to door, but they did keep me updated with every step of the process.

Now i have it pluged back in and been watching movies for a couple days and WOW! this player works great! BR load and play in just a few seconds, 15 tops. No freezing or lockups. I have no idea what they did to it becouse they did not offer that info but assume the put a new main board in(although pure speculation.

Anyway just want to say thanks to Samsung. This is a solid player now that its working properly.

Did they give you a different player or the same one? Do you have the same firmware as before?

In reply to: question

The case has the same serial number on it so at least its the same. and the boot loader software is 2.05, loader is 1.06. unfortunately i never kept track of the ESN before i sent it off. that may have been the only way to see if they replaced the main board in it.

Are You Still Satisfied With This Player?

This post was from Feb '10, I'll bet you're not still so happy with Samsung in Dec '11 since your BD-P3600 pprobably no longer plays Blu Ray Discs (the main reason for which it was purchased)!
