BD-P1600 USB Video Support?

by amendegw / July 2, 2009 9:21 PM PDT

Hi! I see there is an option to play a video off my USB flash drive on my Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray.

What (if any) video formats are supported for this option? I've tried wmv and DVD image (i.e. vob) - no luck.

amendegw,

Page 31 notes the following:
The unit cannot play CD-RW/CD-R and DVD-RW/-R and USB storage device content such as divx, avi, mpg, mov.

Some Samsung televisions come with WiseLink which in some models allows movie files to be played, but not in the BD-P1600.

Sounds like you're saying the BD-P1600 does not support any USB video playback. The statement on p. 31 seems to indicate that some file types (maybe wmv or DVD image) might be supported.

So why is there a video playback option on the USB menu if nothing is supported?

Oh, well,

So when are you going to provide this functionality? I see that advertisements for this model are still reporting that it is possible. I have never gotten anything to work on my BD-P1600 USB port except the firmware updates.

Hey amendegw ,

I am in the same boat as you, I would love to have this feature work. I truly believe samsung is a great product, but they let me down on this one. My fried offered to trade his PS3 for my blu-ray, I am going to do this. Sony has proved already that users can stream video from comp to the playstation wirelessly with out purchasing additional hardware. I like my samsung 6 series 640 and blu-ray player combo, great picture, but features are lacking, and they can be added with firmware updates that are no where to be seen.

My 2 cents, I would love to hear from someone on this one.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
