BD p1600 Blue Ray Unable to Internet connection failed

Help! I received this as a gift.
Highest of the many problems is this:
Set up w/o the dongle initially.
Made upgrade using usb device.
Bought samsung dongle.
Connected to pandora, youtube, blockbuster (free trial, then ended free trial), netflix (free trial, then ended free trial). No blockbuster or netflix paid service at this time.
Now I can only connect to pandora. Can not connect to you tube which is free. When I run the network check/diagnostic, it says it cannot connect, but yet pandora works.
I want to sign up for blockbuster again but it can not connect.
Is there a way to test if the dongle is working?
I read I should turn off firewall. How do I do that. the Actiontec 802.11g modem has some kind of firewall, I have mfacfee and spy sweeper also, which one(s) am I turning off or reconfiguring? How do I reconfigure to allow and recognize the samsung device. The main computer attached to the modem is running vista.
Why would this work for about 3 weeks and then no longer work?
SInce this was a gift I won in a xmas lottery at work I have no receipt and it would be rude to ask for one. SO I am stuck with this thing and it worked for a while, what do I do now.
I read something about the time on the player needing to be exactly right, I checked that.
Is there a reset to factory settings option, should I do that and start over?
Does this work with 'g' network protocol (vs 'n')?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
