BD-P1590 no sound with HDMI cable to SONY Bravia TV

by llrajsamsung / November 27, 2009 8:55 AM PST

The Blu-Ray player has the latest (2.05) firmware. Works fine when connected to the TV with RCA and component cables however with HDMI get only video - no audio.

The TV is a SONY Bravia V series. When I connect my SONY HD camcorder using the same HDMI cable to the same HDMI port on the TV I get both video and audio.

I must add that sometimes I get both audio and video with this blu-ray player and TV.

Please help otherwise I'll have to return this player and get a different brand of blu-ray player

Thanks

llrajsamsung,

Try toggling the audio output of the Blu-Ray player (in the Audio Menu) to PCM or Bitstream. It may be that one works better with the television than the other.

It turned out that the SONY TV was not able to handle PCM audio even from a SONY Blu-ray. Replaced it with Samsung TV now always get audio from HDMI though Samsung TV does not display SD picture very well.

Hi, The audio and video issue is related to the resolution and audio format that your TV accepts. Normally resetting the player will resolve most of the issue with the player, you can try reset on samsung player Reset steps : To reset your BD Player, with the power on and with no disc in the player, press and hold the FF button on the front panel for five seconds. The language screen will appear and all settings will revert back to factory settings. I had the same issue and it was resolve one the player was reset:-) If it is not helping then just go to player menu->setup->display setup and set native resolution of your TV to get picture on it. Hope it works........! Cya
