BD-P1500 / Display Resolution

Feb 8, 2009 6:26AM PST

I have a BD-P1500 and a Panasonic PT-AE1000 projector and my fasther also has a BD-P1500 and a PT-AE2000.

Would it be possible to leave upscaling to the projector by having the player default to the closest resolution for the source? For example 480p/576p for DVD sources, 720P for 720P DivX, and 1080p for 1080P BD.

splagnol,

Part of the functionality of the player is to upscale DVDs so that they look better automatically.

You can manually change the settings when you put the media in the disc tray and let the projecter do the processing if you like, but that's not an automatic process.

Hope that helps.

BD-P1500 / upscaling
Feb 9, 2009 4:03PM PST

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. Actually, what I'd like to do is disable the upscaler and rely on my projector's upscaler instead.

My previous Samsung DVD-HD870 could do this and also had a direct button on the remove to change resolution. I was surprised not to find anything like this on the BD-P1500.

Could you please make this a feature request for a future firmware?

Thanks,

spagnol,

If you'd like to disable the upscaler, you can do that by sending the native resolution of the format you'd like to play. That feature isn't on the remote, and that's probably because we assumed that people wanted the highest resoltion in *most* cases. Your idea is one that merits consideration of course, so I'll go with that.

Feature requests should go into the WishList portion of the website. I compile those and send them up every week.
