BD 2550 Specific 'Wish List'

Feb 17, 2009 9:38PM PST

I purchsed the 2550 this weekend was happy with the quality and the Netflix and Pandora features until...
I heard that the LG released a firmware update to the BD300 that now allows you to stream youtube videos and pictures from your pc.
Now I'm not 100% sure if this true or not, but what I'm wondering is it possible that the 2550 can be upgraded with these features and is it something Samsung may be considering for future releases?
Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Hulu. Is that another feature that could be added in the future?

Feature
Feb 18, 2009 1:38PM PST

sonofslacker,

I read about this last week and wondered how long it would be before that question reached this thread. Happy

I can't confirm or deny other product features, but it appears to be legitimate.

That said, I don't forsee this coming to the BD-P2500/50 anytime soon, but I will pass this up to see if there will be any sort of "competitive response" to this news.

I am hoping to have some news on our future releases as they get closer to release date, exclusive to our forum users. Ideally, I'd like to "break" some features on this forum - so I'll see what I can do.

I do have it from a few sources that we will be offering this as part of our Widgets for some of our 2009 television products.. (here's a sneak peek), but until I get a different word back regarding the BD-P2500/50, the answer is likely, "no".

Thanks for the answer

So I should switch to the LG? Happy
A serious question though, what is the likelyhood that Samsung will match those features? Have they done so in the past? Or is it more likely they'll simply introduce features in new releases only? It sounds like they're investing more into TVs than Blu rays unfortunately.
Thanks for the info!

sonofslacker,

Added functionality and features, just like anything else, is usually introduced in the new models.

Could you sticky this?
Feb 26, 2009 11:58AM PST

I know there is a "wish list" sticky already, but, I think it would be helpful to have it split up. At least 1 for TV's, 1 for blu-ray, 1 for ...

Sure
Feb 26, 2009 3:18PM PST

I'd be happy to.

We'll leave it up for a week and see what kind of response it gets. If traffic is bumping, then we'll keep it going.

I'm putting the request in now.

Hey wait a minute.....

Hey, wait a minute...

This whole thread highlights a competitor's feature.

Tell you what: If you'd like to start a 2500/50 wishlist thread, go for it, and I'll request a sticky for that instead. Grin
