Resolved Question

battery question re: telephone handsets

Jan 2, 2012 4:37AM PST

Sorry if I am on the wrong forum, but info for plain' ol landline telephones doesn't seem to be common around these parts! Happy

My brother told me that the rechargable batteries in our additional telephone handsets (bought with the corded landline phone) would last longer if we discharged them occasionally and then recharged.

I think that, if I put my mind to it, I would remember to do this but I was wondering if the handset must be used (during phone calls) to be discharged or if I could just take them off of their cradles occasionally and set on the table beside, and they might discharge that way. I just cannot find any information on this, so I wil give this form a try.

Thanks!

Plenty of bad advice out there.

That advice applied to NiCad batteries. What battery type is in said handset?

Thanks!

It's a NiMH battery, so I am assuming that it does not have to be "maintained" or its "life lengthened" by a periodic discharging?
