Question

Battery question: NB-11LH vs. NB-11L

Apr 26, 2014 7:34PM PDT

I recently purchased a Canon Powershot ELPH 150 IS. This is the first time I've purchased a camera that does not take AA batteries, but instead uses rechargeable battery packs.

I'd like to get a few more battery packs so that I always have a fully charged battery when I need it. The battery that came with the camera is a NB-11LH. However, in looking through Ebay I'm seeing NB-11L (without the "H"), which appears similar.

Are the NB-11LH and the NB-11L interchangeable, or should I stick with the NB-11LH since that's what came with the camera?

I can not find out the difference between the two batteries.
I suggest you phone Canon service before substituting a different battery.
Canon's pricing is the same for both batteries.

I did see slight differences in marking.

The one without the H had the CE marking which matters to some in Europe. The non-H lacks that and a few other stencil work. The battery dimensions look to be the same.

My bet is the stencil, marking is what differs and why is because local markets demand this or that marking.

Answer
Difference in Canon NB-11L and NB-11LH batteries.

The NB-11L battery is listed at 680mAh, 2.5Wh Lithium Ion, while the NB-11LH is listed at 800mAh, 2.9Wh Lithium Ion battery. So the NB-11LH battery will give you a longer charge and more pictures than the NB-11L battery. Both use the same charger. You can find these specs looking at the pictures of the two batteries on amazon.com.
