Battery Question

by juliam / July 16, 2005 6:40 AM PDT

Is it possible to have a notebook with a 6-cell battery, but buy another battery, like 9 or 12-cell, and use it in the same computer? Are batteries with more cells physically larger?

batter up the battery...

In reply to: Battery Question

A notebook with a 6 cell battery will only
accept a 6 cell battery due to the size of
the battery and size of the notebook. This
means you can not have an 8 cell battery and
expect it to fit in the same battery slot,
as the 8cell would naturally be larger.
Unless, you are fortunate enough to come
across a smaller battery cell that will hold
the same current/voltage and still fit them
in to the OEM battery compartment. You can
however, *UP* the mAh rating on a new 6 cell
battery to giver a longer lasting battery.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification.

I should have also asked this - can you recommend any sites that sell notebook batteries?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
