Question

{Battery) Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery

Feb 23, 2018 11:03PM PST

A year ago I purchased a Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series laptop. Last week I started noticing that whenever I plugged in the AC adapter in to charge it would register not charging...( battery is plugged in but not charging), whatever percentage it was at while being plugged in it would remain at that percentage never decreasing.
I went on YouTube and followed the steps , going to device manager deleting the devices in Battery, shut down the computer and then re-plug my AC adapter after viewing the devices were re-installed This fixed worked momentarily but the problem would come right back shortly. I went into my BIOS and it says whenever i shut down and reboot "the AC adapter it's not being detected" .... if I keep it plugged in the battery will not lose its charge percentage......after some time it will start charging and obtain a full charge... full charge... Presently I'm in another country and i bought this laptop in the US....could anyone give me some advise
Thanks

Answer
Way too many posts about this.

Usually a bum charger or a bad power jack. At worst it's a motherboard issue or bad battery.

Some folk yelp "it's only a year old, how can it be the battery etc." New doesn't preclude early failures.

If the charger is not from Dell, go get the Dell charger.

Remember there are plenty of priors on this, so I'll stick to what I've encountered. Which are not-Dell chargers, bad charging jacks and battery failures.

Thank you for your reply, it could possibly be a bum charger. One thing I forgot to include in my description of problems is that when i unplug the AC adapter and then re- plug it again the light indicating it's charging comes on immediately then shuts off.

Remember I've seen this too many times.

Luckily for us it's always the charger, jack or old battery. Each one is cheaper than motherboard or new laptop.
