Battery life on Dell 600m

Apr 4, 2005 10:42AM PDT

I am planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 600m next month, but before I buy it, I want to know how long battery life is. If somebody who owns this device with a good battery, I want to know how long it runs on battery and how long it runs on BATTERY Playing DVD.

Your choice of how long by turning off the Wifi and dimming the screen a little. Get a lot my by opting for the next size up battery.

Average 3.5-4 Hours

Using the power management software they give you, I've found you can get 3.5-4 hours easily (with WiFi on) with a Latitude D600.

The newer Dells that have the battery in the back allow you to expand the battery more, and that can REALLY extend the life. Examples include the 700m and 6000.

Get the additional modular battery

I don't have the 600m but own COmpaq V2000 which pretty much the same. With the 12 cell battery, that thing runs for a long time (6.5 hours). Not sure when running DVD though. The 12 cell compaq battery equivalent to Dell's original 6cell + the modular battery.

oops, if you take the extra modular battery, then you need to take out the DVD drive from the laptop. So you're stuck with the original 6 or 8 cells battery. If battery life means a lot to you, look into the Compaq V2000. I have a few laptops and this one run the longest on battery power.
