Battery for DCR-HC48 (NP-FP71?)

by zzyzx409 / June 23, 2007 1:36 AM PDT

I just purchased a DCR-HC48 and a spare battery (an NPFP-71) when I purchased the camcorder at Amazon.

In reading the manual it says use H series battries. The H series battery is a replacemnt for the P series battery. But I cannot find any info that leads me to believe the NP-FP71 is a compatible battery, but none that says definitely no compatible.

Can I use this battery? (I bought it from an Amazon Market Place seller, no word back on their return policy)

Or should I just forget it and get the NPFH-70 instead.

Thanks for any info...

Thanks ever so much. Maybe I was over analyzing, but I sure to appreciate the links. The last one confirmed what I thought.

Thanks again,

Update: Batteries are NOT totally compatible. The NP-FH70 can be used in place of the NPF-FP71, but the NP-FP71 cannot be used in place of the NP-FH70. Reason, they are keyed differently. Apparently the H series battery will fit in a slot designed for the P series battery, but the P series battery will not necessarily fit in a slot designed for an H series battery. For me that is $60 down the tubes, not the dumbest thing I've done, and won't be the last dumb thing, just another in life's little lessons.

Thanks anyway, it was a nice try.
