Question

Battery failure

My laptop is 2 years old, dell Inspiron 13 7000 series. Today I got the message:
"Your battery has experienced permanent failure and needs to be replaced. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup of the utility."
What should I do? I need it working today.
It's 0% available, plugged in, not charging.

Replace it. You'll have to run on mains power (with a power adapter) until you have another one. It's possible that that doesn't work with a failed battery, but it's worth a try and your only chance.
If it doesn't work with a new battery either, it's motherboard issue.

If you need it working today, hurry to your favorite battery shop and hope they have either an original Dell battery or a compatible third party one in stock.

This is a common failure.

Most laptop batteries are 300 cycle rated so very easy to see failures 1 year and on.
